Strong presence at Almedalen

Nine representatives at around ten different seminars. That is Jönköping University’s (JU) line-up for Almedalen. There will be the launch of a unique foundry initiative as well as highly topical panel discussions featuring JU representatives.
As early as Tuesday, 23 June, JU, together with the Swedish Foundry Association, will launch SMEC, the Swedish Metal Casting Excellence Center – a project unique in Sweden. In collaboration with the Volvo Group, Volvo Cars and Scania, a foundry center is being established to boost the competitiveness of the Swedish manufacturing industry.
On stage, representatives from JU, the automotive industry and the political sphere will come together to discuss the initiative’s significance in the context of global competition, where research and development in die-casting are crucial for Sweden to remain a leading industrial nation.
In addition to the dedicated seminar on SMEC, President Måns Svensson, Executive Vice President Eleonor Fransson and five researchers and professors will participate in a number of other seminars during Almedalen Week. Ukraine, democracy, women’s entrepreneurship and lifelong learning are on the agenda.
